Dr. Oliver is the founder &CEO of the American Sentinel University, which offers bachelor, masters and doctoral nursing degrees, and master's degrees in health care informatics, technology and management. The University currently has about 4,000 students and nearly 200 faculty.
Prior to founding American Sentinel University, he was a Professor of Management at the Owen Graduate School of Management at Vanderbilt University, where he taught strategy and global management, and was a Visiting Professor of Management at Cornell's Johnson Graduate School of Management where he taught global management. While at Vanderbilt's Owen Graduate School of Management he received the Outstanding Professor award in the Executive MBA program and received a Dean's Teaching Award. Business Week ranked his strategy course #3 in the world. Dr. Oliver holds a B.Sc. in economics from Cornell University and a Ph.D. from the State University of New York.
Dr. Oliver served as Chairman of the Board of Directors of Symmetricom Inc. (NASDAQ) and has served on the Boards of Applied Innovation (NASDAQ), Quality Industries and Prime Office Products, Inc., Borden Chemicals, Communications Central (NASDAQ), Comptronix Corp (NASDAQ) and First Union Bank (Tenn). He served as an adviser to Massey-Burch Capital, a venture capital firm. He was the principle researcher and a spokesman for a joint venture between IBM/American Express focused on the future of small business.
Prior to joining the Owen School, he was Vice President, Corporate Marketing, Northern Telecom Inc. He joined Northern Telecom in 1976 and held various positions in marketing and communications, and for three years was a special assistant to the Chairman & CEO. Prior to Northern Telecom, Dr. Oliver served in various marketing, investor and public affairs capacities for the Du Pont Company in the United States and Canada.
Dr. Oliver is the author of What is Transparency (McGraw-Hill), The Biotech Age: The Business of Biotech and How to Make Money from It (McGraw-Hill), The Coming Biotech Age: The Business of Bio-Materials (McGraw-Hill),The Shape of Things to Come: Seven Imperatives for Winning in the New World of Business, (Business Week Books, McGraw-Hill), and co-author (with William Jenkins) of The Eagle & the Monk: 7 Principles of Successful Change, as well as several other books, book chapters and more than 50 academic and professional articles.
Dr. Oliver has consulted for a number of companies including JP Morgan, RBC Capital Markets, AMEX, IBM, BellSouth, Nortel, Du Pont, Berwind Industries, SLC Corporation, Honeywell, the CBC, Tetrapak, Central Parking System, JC Bradford and others.
He is a frequent speaker at corporate functions and at business and professional groups. His column Real Time Strategy appeared regularly in the Journal of Business Strategy, and was featured monthly in office.com. His column, mgmt.tech.com, appeared monthly in the American Management Association's Management Review. He served as a reviewer to several academic journals.
Professor Sadananda has a career spanning internationally across many countries and spanning academic institutions and industry. Presently he is an Adjunct Professor at Griffith University and a Visiting Research Fellow at the National ICT Australia Limited. He has served as a Professorial Visiting Fellow at the University of New South Wales and as an Adjunct Professor at Charles Darwin University.
The academic career of Professor Sadananda includes Jawaharlal Nehru University where he served as the founding Head and Dean of the School of Computer & Systems Sciences. At the Asian Institute of Technology he headed the program of Computer Science and Information Management and lead many academic initiatives. He was elected as the Representative of the Faculty to serve in the Board of Trustees of the Institute. He has also served as Vice President (Research) of Rangsit University in Thailand. The other institutions he served include Indian Institute of Technology, Birla Institute of Science and Technology, University of Texas, University of Paris, Technical University at Hamburg- Harburg, Sophia University (Japan), Kyongwon University, Griffith University, Central Queensland University and Curtin University.
Professor Sadananda has been a consultant for industry. He has served a sabbatical period with Infosys in the area of Knowledge Management. He has been consultant at Siemens in their Bio-medicine project. He has served at the Research and Development Centre of TCS, India. He has served as the Chief Consultant for GaiaSoft (for LG Korea).
Professor Sadananda has advised and served international organizations. He served as the Chief Technical Advisor to the United Nations Development Program, as Chief Investigator of a European Union project on “A multimedia tool for National Resources Management and Environment Education (INCO_DC1996)”. Professor Sadananda has advised the government of Korea through Korea Foundation for International Cooperation in Science and Technology.
Professor Sadananda is among the earliest to initiate Computer Science Education in India and in South East Asia as well. In recognition of the multifarious contributions in Computer Science education and research the Computer Society of India conferred on him “The Fellow of the Computer Society of India”. He has been recognised by the IEEE and ACM as a senior member and by Australian Computer Society as an accredited member.
Professor Sadananda's research interest has been across disciplines. His PhD research combined the fundamentals of mathematical logic with the advances in computer based image understanding. His research was path breaking and was recognised by the award of a Fulbright Fellowship, which he spent at the University of Texas at Austin. His master thesis was on a mathematical model of neural communication. He has supervised 18 doctoral students to their completion and a large number of master students. The areas of his research supervision include Software Engineering, Operating Systems, Blackboard Architectures, Neural Networks, Cache Management, Agents and Self-Organization. He has over one hundred twenty publications in journals and leading conferences. He has chaired and organised many leading international technical conferences – representing Computer Science, Communication Engineering, Artificial Intelligence, Technology Transfer, Natural Resources Management and Climate Change.
Professor Sadananda has developed interest in human resources development. He has co-organized a major international conference on Skills (www.skills2010.org) and another with preparation in progress.
Shailendra Kumar Hajela graduated in Electrical Engineering in 1957 from the erstwhile University of Roorkee (Now IIT Roorkee) winning the Thomason Prize and the Gold Medal for the Best Engineering Project Design. Immediately on graduation he was appointed as Lecturer in Communications at the University of Roorkee and after a brief sojourn at teaching was sponsored under the German Govt. Fellowship programme for postgraduate research to Germany. He obtained his Dr. Ing. (Ph.D.) degree from the Technical University of Ilmenau. Having successfully competed in the All India Engineering Services Examination 1957, he joined the Indian Telecom Service (ITS), Government of India after completing his doctorate.
During his career spanning over 33 years in the Department of Telecommunications, he was engaged in planning, provisioning, development of network infrastructure, project management, operation and management of services, holding positions of progressively increasing responsibility, viz. Asstt. Director (TRC); Chief Engineer (R&D) and General Manager at ITI Ltd. Bangalore and Naini Units; Dy. Director General (RD); Chief General Manager, Tamilnadu Telecom Circle; Sr. DDG of Telecom Engineering Centre, culminating with Advisor Technology at policy and decision making level in the Telecom Commission during the onset of liberalization of Economy and Telecom sector reform in India during 1991-92.
On deputation from the Government of India he served the International Telecommunication Union (a specialized UN Agency) (ITU) for over 10 years in two stints, first as Team Leader and Sr. Expert of the UNDP/ITU funded Telecom Maintenance and Management Project in Nepal (1983–88) and later on (1992-97) as the Area Representative for West & South Asia and Coordinator of the ITU/BDT Regional Office for Asia and the Pacific at Bangkok, the period marked by project activities on liberalization, corporatization and related policy and regulatory issues.
On retirement from ITU, he has been associated with the Telecom Regulatory Authority of India as honorary Sr. Consultant for over 8 years. He has undertaken major consultancy assignments in India and abroad with the Government, World Bank, Asian Development Bank, UNESCAP, UNDP, ITU and the Asia-Pacific Telecommunity. He is a member of the Project Advisory Committee of Technology Systems Group, Ministry of Science & Technology, Chairman of the ITU-APT Foundation of India and Chairman of Telecel Communications (P) Ltd.
Dr. Hajela is a Fellow of Institution of Engineers, Fellow of Institution of Electronics and Telecom Engineers and Sr. Member of IEEE (USA). In recognition of his outstanding achievements and contributions, the IIT-Roorkee conferred on him the Distinguished Alumnus Award in November 2008.
Ravi K Reddy is a Chartered Accountant and a Business Advisory Consultant. He consults for many businesses, especially the small, medium and emerging enterprises. Ravi, in his professional capacity, associated as Managing Partner with M/s. RK Reddy & Associates, a Hyderabad based Chartered Accountants firm established in the year 1986 and extend the services in the areas of Management Consultancy, Taxation, Accounting and Auditing to multi-sectoral clientele.
Ravi is on the Board of Overseas Manpower Company Andhra Pradesh Limited, a Government of Andhra Pradesh company involved in facilitation of overseas employment since March 2006. Ravi had worked for a period of 7 years, culminating into senior management capacity in the Finance Function of a Medium Scale Manufacturing Company at Hyderabad, before establishing his own auditing & consultancy firm - M/s. RK Reddy & Associates.
Ravi passionately believes rural empowerment is a concern to a country like India and the rural human recourses that represent almost 70% of country’s population needs to be harnessed through appropriate skill building to boost the rural economy while enhancing their quality of life and livelihoods. In realizing his passion for rural development, Ravi has been actively associated with Rural Economic and Educational Society (REEDS) a non-profit and non-government organization established in 1989 towards rural development and enhancing the quality of life of rural communities. His role was prominent in making REEDS visible nationally and internationally in the areas of Safe Drinking Water, Sanitation & Hygiene, and Developmental Studies & Monitoring. Ravi is co-founder of Life Skills and Livelihood Skills International (LSLSI), a Hyderabad based not-for-profit organization established in the year 2012 to focus on the ‘skilling’ of the rural population of India.
Addressing various issues specific to the massive challenge in the area of skills development in India for meaningful utilization of its significant demographic dividend with International cooperation as a key ingredient, is another area Ravi has been actively working for the past few years. He has been propelling this agenda at several conferences and other platforms in India and abroad. Ravi co-organized two International Conferences – SKILLS2010 in December 2010 and SKILLS2013 in December 2013 at Hyderabad, India. SKILLS2010 was privileged to have an inspirational inaugural address by the former President of India, Dr APJ Abdul Kalam paving way for the emergence of a conference series, while SKILLS2013 was addressed by His Excellency Governor of Tamilnadu, Dr. K. Rosaiah. He had taken part as a Special Interest Advocate of ‘Rural and Regional Development’ at Asia Pacific International Education Forum held at Darwin, Australia in August 2011.
Recognizing Ravi’s efforts towards rural empowerment, American Sentinel University, Denver, Colorado, USA has conferred him with an honorary degree of Doctor of Letters on 19 June 2015 at Denver.
